PRESS RELEASE: Film Industry Training Seminars Heads to Elkins With Unique 2-Day Workforce Master Class

ELKINS W.Va. – Do you want to learn more about the entertainment industry? A two-day, special training seminar giving individuals the opportunity to learn behind-the-scenes aspects of film and TV production will be held August 26 and 27 in Elkins, West Virginia. Skills instruction will be provided by the Atlanta-based Film Industry Training Seminars LLC, or F.I.T.S., a widely recognized leader in film trades education, offering high demand ‘Below-The-Line’ seminars across North America.

The August master class will focus on the Director’s Team and how to work within the Assistant Directing (AD) department. The hands-on workshop helps participants become an instant asset to the working entertainment community. Beginners with zero experience, students, retirees, military veterans, and those looking for a career change are encouraged to attend as well as crewmembers already ‘in the business’ who wish to broaden their knowledge and expand skills sets. Emerging and veteran directors must understand the intricacies of their team to be effective leaders. Producers, office staff, cast and crew should have a basic understanding of how other departments operate and make it possible for them to focus on the single job they’ve been hired to do – be it acting, camera, lighting, set decoration, props, catering, stunt and special/visual effects, costume, make-up, etc. Anyone interested or working in entertainment or broadcast will gain valuable insights and knowledge from this seminar.

Kenny Chaplin, founder and owner of F.I.T.S., will lead the workshop. Kenny has been a part of the Director’s Team in film and television for over 20 years. He is a member of the Directors Guilds of America (DGA) and Canada (DGC). He’s provided call times to the likes of Ethan Hawke, James Garner, Ray Liotta, Donald Sutherland, and Abigail Breslin. He has had to ‘wrangle’ the likes of Dustin Hoffman, John Cusack, Woody Harrelson, Sean Penn, Eva Longoria and many others. Kenny’s credits include feature films such as Terrence Malick’s “The Thin Red Line,” Ang Lee’s “Ride With The Devil,” and Ridley Scott’s “Body of Lies.” His television series credits include “Judging Amy” starring Amy Brenneman and Tyne Daly plus “Roswell” with Katherine Heigl.

Augmented with tales from the field and trenches, Kenny dispels the myths of working in ‘Hollywood’. Seminar graduates should gain the courage and assurances to walk onto any film or TV production set with confidence and start work immediately.
